Ever since I saw this, I’ve been fascinated by the memory chimps seems to have. And also the fact that they clearly can learn and understand numbers. It’s wild that they can do this, and it really makes you question how the brain actually works.
Scientists learned three chimp mothers and their chimp child arabic numbers. It’s almost a little funny that the first chimp mother they learned Arabic numbers to, was named Ai This was of in 2004, and totally unrelated to todays AI revolution. Want to give it a try? You can play my reproduction of the game here. To make it a little more interestingly, I made a few changes and a scoring system.
You will start with 2000ms before the numbers blank out. Ayumu performed well with nine numerals at 210ms. I suggest you start with a bit fewer numerals and increase as you get better.
You can collect points until you make a mistake, but the fewer numerals you select, the more the blanking time will decrease for each board. You can change the number of numerals between each board, so choose your strategy wisely.
