To start, I usually use the same combination of words, e.g., above – crust – dying. I have tried to find a combination that includes the most common letters and vowels. It is often the case that you manage to guess the word with the remaining attempts.
It also has a search tool if you get stuck (but it feels a bit like cheating…).
